20 DIY Christmas Ornaments How To Make Christmas Ornaments

Hello! Today, I'm going to show you how to make over twenty DIY Christmas ornaments. In the comments down below let me know what you think about these ornaments and which one is your favorite.

Let's get started!

1 DIY Popsicle Stick Sleigh Ornament

DIY Popsicle Stick Sleigh Ornament

The first ornament I'm going to show you how to make a sleigh ornament. This DIY Popsicle stick sleigh ornament looks really cute and can be any color.

You need about seven Popsicle sticks and you need to paint five of them one color for the top of the sleigh and two of them for the runner on the bottom part of the sleigh another color.

When the Popsicle sticks are all dry, you want to take a Popsicle stick and cut it down to the same size as the top part of the sleigh with wire cutters. Then glue it onto the back of the sticks with a glue gun.

Put some glue onto the edge of the Popsicle stick you just cut and place one of the sticks for the runners into the glue with a glue gun. Then do it again on the other side.

You can put glue on the sides of the runners to help keep it in place.

Take a piece of string and tie a loop. Then glue it to the bottom of the sleigh with a glue gun.

If you want you can glue a jewel on the top of the sleigh. Instead of a jewel, you can glue a bell on it instead.

2 DIY Sock Ornament

DIY Sock Ornament

This DIY sock ornament looks really cute and it can be any size or color you would like.

For this sock ornament, you want to start off by drawing and cutting a sock out of red fleece fabric or you could use another color.

After cutting it out, trace the top part of the sock onto white fabric and cut out a rectangle.

Then glue the white rectangle onto the sock and after that glue a jewel onto the white rectangle.

The last thing you have to do is tie a loop with a piece of string and glue it to the back of the sock with a glue gun. You can also keep off the jewel if you don't want it.

3 DIY Salt Dough Ornaments

DIY Salt Dough Ornaments

What you will need to make these salt dough ornaments is a bowl, a spoon, 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of salt, 1/2 cup of water, parchment paper, a rolling pin, a baking pan, a straw, and cookie cutters.

To make the dough, start off by putting the flour, the salt, and the water into the bowl and stir until combined.

Then take the dough out of the bowl and roll it until it's completely combined and in a ball. Then roll it out with a rolling pin.

Now you can place the cookie cutters into the dough and make many different designs. You can put a smaller shape inside the bigger shapes and take the smaller shape out to have a ornament with a hole that could be in a shape of something like a moon or a star in the middle.

Remove the dough around the ornaments and roll the extra dough into a ball and roll it out again and make more shapes.

Then you want to move the ornaments onto a pan. If you made some with shapes cut out in the middle, take a spatula and slowly move the ornament onto a spatula.

With this recipe I made   different ornaments. This will depend on the size and shape of your ornament.

Then take a straw and put it into the dough so there can be a string so the ornament can hang on a tree.

You can also use a toothpick for the smaller ornaments but make sure you make a big enough hole.

When you are done with the ornaments put them into the oven at 200°F for 1-3 hours or until they are all hard.

Now you can draw and paint your ornaments and you can draw designs on with a permanent marker or paint on the designs with a paintbrush. When the paint is wet you can sprinkle on glitter. I left some of them white because they look like snowballs.

When they are dry, you can put string or twine through the holes and tie a loop. For the ornaments with smaller holes you can put a toothpick through the hole to put small pieces out of the way that are blocking the hole.

Then I'll will show you how to make a snowflake ornament.

For this snowflake ornament, paint five Popsicle sticks white or another color. If you want, while the paint is still wet, you can sprikle glitter on the DIY snowflake ornament.

Take the Popsicle stick that will be in the back and put a drop of glue with the glue gun in the middle of the stick. Then put the second stick on top of that one. You should have a "X" shape now.

Then take the third stick and glue it again to the middle but at a angle on the second Popsicle stick and not the same as the first stick.

Do the same thing to the next stick and the last stick.

If you want you can glue a button or something in the middle of the stick.

Then tie a loop with string and glue it to the top of the back Popsicle stick.

5 DIY Pinecone Ornament

For this pinecone ornament, you want to paint the pinecone white or another color and while it's still wet sprinkle some glitter onto the pinecone and wait for it to dry.

Next you can tie a loop with a piece of twine or string and glue it the top of the pinecone.

Then you can tie a bow and glue it over where the twine or string is.

6 DIY Picture Ornament

For this picture ornament, you want to print out any picture onto photo paper. You can trim the picture and leave a border if you want to.

Then punch a hole onto the top of the picture and then tie some ribbon into a loop through the hole on the picture.

7 DIY Candy Cane Ornaments

All you have to do is take a real candy cane and tie a loop with some string onto the candy cane.

If you want you can eat the candy canes off the tree or you guests can eat them off the tree.

DIY Wood Slice Ornaments

DIY Wood Slice Ornaments

All you have to do cut some wood into slices or buy pre cut slices of wood. Then put a hole into it near the top with a electric drill and after that you want to sand the wood slices.

Then you can draw and paint in a design on the wood slices. You can also use a permanent marker.

When your wood slices are dry, take some twine and tie a loop through the hole so the ornaments can be hung on the tree.

9 DIY Perler Bead Ornament

DIY Perler Bead Ornament

For this DIY, you use perler beads and make any shape you want on a peg board. I used a butterfly pegboard and used some pink clear beads to add some color to the butterfly. The clear beads will show light that's behind them and make sure you leave one peg with no bead.

When your done with your design, put parchment paper over it and iron it until the beads are connected. Make sure you check iron is around medium heat before you iron so you don't over melt the beads.

Tie a loop through that you left open with a piece of string.

I love how cute this butterfly came out! I love how the wings have faces on it.

10 DIY Christmas Tree Ornament #1

DIY Christmas Tree Ornament

For this Christmas tree, you want to take a Popsicle stick and cut off the rounded edges with wire cutters and then sand the edges until smooth.

Then take another Popsicle stick and mark off how big the first Popsicle stick was and make the second stick smaller. Then continue this until you have five trimmed Popsicle sticks.

Take another Popsicle stick and cut off a tiny bit off of the stick and sand it down until smooth.

Then paint the five Popsicle sticks that were cut any color and they will be the tree's branches and paint the sixth stick a different color.

Now you can glue all of the cut sticks, starting from the biggest sticks, onto the sixth stick with a glue gun and make sure you leave a little room between each stick.

If you want you can glue on some jewels or something else onto the tree with the glue gun.

When your done with your tree, tie a loop with a piece of string and glue it onto the top of back of the tree.

11 DIY Banner Ornament

DIY Banner Ornament

The first thing you have to do for this banner ornament is paint a stick any color.

Then you can draw a banner onto fabric, cut it out with scissors, and make sure it can fit onto the stick with the string.

After you cut the banner out, you can draw and paint in your design.

When your banner is dry, flip it over and put your stick onto the banner about 1/2 inch from the top.

Then put some glue below the stick and wrap the fabric from the top around the stick.

When your done doing that, tie one piece of string on both sides of the stick and then the banner will be finished.

12 DIY Christmas Mason Jar Lid Ornament

DIY Christmas Mason Jar Lid Ornament

First you want to take the lid and trace around it onto some cardstock or scrapbook paper and cut it out.

Then you can put the piece of the paper into the cover that goes on top of the lid to help with keeping it in the open area of the cover and draw and paint in your design on the circle. You can draw anything you want. I drew a reindeer silhouette.

Tie a loop with string on the lids cover and if you want you can make another circle to cover up the back and glue it in with the glue gun.

If you are making a reindeer you can can glue on a red pom pom for the nose to make Rudolph.

Then you can put some glue on top of the string on the lid that's above your design and put a bow there.

Something that you can do is put glue on the middle of the bow and put a jewel there.

13 DIY Glitter Reindeer Ornament

DIY Glitter Reindeer Ornament

For this glitter reindeer ornament, you first want to draw and cut out a reindeer head or body out of a piece of cardboard.

Then paint the cardboard white or a similar color to the glitter you are using.

When the paint is dry, cover the reindeer with Mod Podge with a paintbrush and sprinkle the reindeer until covered.

When it's dry, shake off the extra glitter off of the reindeer.

Then tie a loop with string and glue it to the back of the reindeer with a glue gun.

If you want you can add a red pom pom to the front of the reindeer for a nose to make Rudolph by gluing it on with a glue gun.

14 DIY Twine Ball Ornaments

DIY Twine Ball Ornaments

What you will need to make these twine ball ornaments is glue, water, balloons, twine or yarn,

a plastic spoon, paper plate, glitter, a hanger, and clothes pins.

First you want to blow up some balloons.

Then you want to put some glue and water onto the plate. I don't have any measurements but just take a guess and if the glue is too watery add some more glue.

When you are done mixing, put the twine or the yarn into the glue mixture. You can use your hands or the plastic spoon to put the twine or the yarn into the glue mixture. Let it set for a minute in the glue.

Then wrap the twine or the yarn around the balloon multiple times. The more times you wrap the balloon the more structure the twine ball has.

While the glue is still wet sprinkle some glitter all over the twine or yarn.

Then stick the balloon onto the hanger with the clothespins and wait for it to dry overnight. Put some paper under these because they will drip.

When it's dry, cut a hole into the balloon and rip the balloon out slowly and carefully.

You can either put these in a bowl or you can hang them on a tree by tying a loop with another piece of twine or yarn onto the ball.

15 DIY Embroidery Hoop Ornament

DIY Embroidery Hoop Ornament

For this embroidery hoop ornament you will need to cut out a piece of fabric bigger than the embroidery hoop. I used a small embroidery hoop but you can use whatever size you want.

Then you want to draw and paint in your design. I decided to make a reindeer silhouette.

When the paint is dry, put the fabric into the embroidery hoop.

Then cut the extra fabric off but make sure you don't cut too much off because the fabric might not stay in the embroidery hoop.

If you are making, Rudolph glue on a red pom pom with a glue gun where the nose will be.

The last thing you have to do is tie a loop with some string onto the metal part of the embroidery hoop.

16 DIY Christmas Tree Ornament #2

DIY Christmas Tree Ornament

For the stem of this Christmas tree, you want to cut off a small part of a Popsicle stick with wire cutters and then sand the sides down until smooth.

Then you want to paint three uncut Popsicle sticks one colors and the stem another color.

When the sticks are dry, glue the stem onto the Popsicle stick that will be the bottom of the tree with a glue gun.

Then glue the other two Popsicles together with the bottom part of tree into a triangle.

When you're done gluing the tree together, tie a loop with a piece of string and glue it to the back of the top of the tree.

If you want you can glue jewels or whatever you would like onto the tree with a glue gun.

17 DIY Cookie Cutter Ornaments

All you have to do for these cookie cutter ornaments is tie a loop with a piece of string onto the cookie cutters.

18 DIY Mason Jar Lid Wreath Ornament

DIY Mason Jar Lid Wreath Ornament

For this cute wreath, start off by putting a drop of glue onto the inside of a lid with a glue gun and put the end of some ribbon on it. Then start wrapping the ribbon around the lid.

To make things easier while wrapping the ribbon, make sure the ribbon has been wrapped tightly on the lid and every so often put some glue on to the lid and continue with wrapping the ribbon onto the lid.

When you got the lid completely wrapped around the lid, cut off the extra string and glue the end of the string to the lid.

Then tie a loop with some ribbon and tie it to the lid.

Then put some glue on the middle of the bow and glue on a jewel.

After that's done, tie a bow with a different color of ribbon and glue it to the lid with a glue gun.

19 DIY Popsicle Picture Frame Ornament

DIY Popsicle Picture Frame Ornament

For these ornaments, you want to take one Popsicle stick and measure how big you want it to be and cut it down with wire cutters. Make as many as you need for whatever shape you need. Since I was making a hexagon I needed six pieces. Shapes that you can do are a triangle or a square.

Then paint all of the pieces.

When all of the pieces are dry, glue them together into the shape you are doing with a glue gun.

When your done gluing the sticks together, put two drops of glue onto the stick that will be on top and take one piece of string and put each end into each drop of glue.

Then you can trace the shape onto your picture and cut it out.

Make sure it fits before gluing the picture on and then glue the picture onto the shape with a glue gun.

20 DIY Paper Ornaments

DIY Paper Ornaments

For this last DIY, you need to make a template of a ornament and cut it out. Then trace it onto a piece of scrapbook paper or cardstock paper and cut the ornament out.

Then you can paint any design you want onto your ornaments.

When they are dry, tie a loop with twine or string and glue it to the back of the top of the ornaments with a glue gun.

If you want you can glue on some jewels onto the ornaments with a glue gun.
