June 25, 2021

Three coastal and beach decoration ideas.

Hey there! Today I'll be showing you how to make some beach and coastal decoration ideas. You'll learn how to make a wood bead garland, a rope bowl, and a tin vase with a seashell and rope wrapped around it.

You can watch the below or you can continue reading on.

Wood Bead Garland

A wood bead garland with tassels and seashells.

What you'll need:

Wood beads
Twine
Two or more seashells
Hot glue
Cardboard that measures about 5 x 3 1/2 inches
Scissors

1. Start by wrapping twine around a piece of cardboard that measures about 5 x 3 1/2 inches and you want to wrap the twine about 20 times.

2. When you're done wrapping the twine on the cardboard, you want to cut the twine you were wrapping with.

3. Take another piece of twine and run it underneath of the twine and tie it where the top of the tassel will be.

4. Cut where the bottom of the tassel will be.

5. Make a loop with another piece of twine and place it over the tassel.

6. Wrap the twine around the tassle and the loop about 15 times.

7. When you're done wrapping the twine around the tassel and the loop, you want to cut the twine you were wrapping with but keep some left so you can tie later.

8. Then you want to take the twine that you were wrapping with and run the twine through the loop.

9. Then you want to pull the twine you were wrapping with and the end of the twine that's from the loop to create a knot.

10. Trim off the extra twine from knot but you don't want to cut off too much because it will come undone. You also want to finish the tassel by trimming the bottom of the tassel.

11. Create a second tassel by following the steps 1-10.

12. When you're making the tassels, you want to take a long piece of twine and put some beads of any size on it. I put about 40 beads on my garland but you can put as many bead as you want on it.

If you start to have trouble with putting beads on the twine, you can try cutting the twine and then you can continue putting beads on the twine.

11. Tie the tassels on each end of the twine. You may need to tie the tassels a few times so the tassels stay secure and you may need to change which piece you're tying onto.

12. You want get two seashells and put glue on the back of one of them.

13. Place the seashell onto one of the pieces of twine that was left over from tying the tassels on.

14. You want to repeat the steps 12-13 for the other seashell.

15. To finish the garland you can add some more glue so the seashells so they stay on better and then you can trim the twine from the knots but not too short so it doesn't come undone.

Rope Bowl

A bowl made out of nautical rope.

What you'll need:

Glass bowl
Scissors
Nautical rope that measures about 9 feet
Hot glue

1. You want to start by flipping a glass bowl upside down because you'll be using this as a guide for your rope bowl.

2. You want to get some nautical rope and if there's any plastic on the end of the rope you want to cut it off.

3. To start with making the bottom of the bowl, you want to put hot glue on the edge of the end of the rope.

4. Then you want to fold the end in half and hold it together until the glue dries. If the rope starts to come apart while you're doing this you can add more glue so it stays together better and make sure you're being careful because the glue is hot.

5. Add glue to the edge that the end of the rope can easily roll on too.

6. Then you want to roll the rope on the glue.

7. Continue the steps 3-6 until you like the size of the bottom of the bowl and make sure you leave enough for the sides.

Make sure you do this slowly because you want the glue dry and cool off. Also remember you can use the bottom of the bowl as a guide to see how big you want the bottom to be and make sure you keep it flat.

8. Once you like the size of the bottom of the bowl, you want to lay the bottom of the bowl on the bottom of the glass bowl and you want to see where the rope will lay on the bottom of your rope bowl by wrapping the rope around the glass bowl and the bottom of your rope bowl to see where the rope will need to be glued on. This will be for the sides.

9. Now you can start glueing on the sides by glueing on the top edge of the bottom of your rope bowl. You want to continue doing this at a angle and until you get to where you would like the height of your bowl to stop or until you get to the end of your rope.

Remember you can still use the bowl as a guide, glueing on the rope at a angle and make sure you're still being careful because the glue is hot.

10. Once you get to the height that you want your bowl to be, you want to cut the rope or if you decided to use all of your rope you can cointune to the next step.

11. Glue the rest of the rope down and you're all done with your rope bowl.

I decided to put some seashells in mine but you can put whatever you would like in your bowl.

Tin Vase

A tin vase with rope wrapped around it and a seashell on the front of it.

What you'll need:

Tin vase
Nautical rope
Seashells
Scissors
Hot glue
Optional: LED candle

1. Start by putting some glue on the back of a tin vase or something else with hot glue.

2. Place the end of a piece of nautical rope on the glue.

3. Continue glueing the rope around the vase until you get it wrapped around to the height that you want.

4. Once you get to the height that you want, you want to cut off the extra rope.

5. Glue on the end of the rope and make sure you glue the end of the rope on the back.

6. Glue on one or more seashells on the front of the vase and you want to glue the seashells on the rope.

I decided to put some seashells in the vase and a LED candle on the middle of the seashells but you can put anything that you want in it.

If you created something similar to mine and if you don't have enough seashells you can put paper towels on the bottom of vase and then you can put the seashells on the top.

That's how you make these room decoration ideas!

Which one of these DIYs is your favorite? My favorite is the tin vase.
