5 Easy DIY Bookmark Ideas to Make at Home

October 3, 2026

Hello there! It's been a little while since I've posted but I'm happy to be back with some new DIY ideas.

Five handmade DIY bookmarks in different designs and styles

I decided to test five different DIY bookmark ideas to see which one I liked best. Each one has a completely different look, so I had a lot of fun making them and seeing how they turned out.

So if you're looking for how to make a bookmark out of paper or just want some easy paper bookmark ideas to try, here are five different designs you can make at home.

1. Corset Inspired Bookmark

A pink and black corset inspired bookmark.

For the first bookmark, I went with a corset inspired design using black glitter ribbon, hemp cord, and beads. I really liked the crisscross lacing and thought the black ribbon along with the beads gave it a cute look.

2. Floral Bookmark

A floral bookmark with lace.

For the second bookmark, I wanted to make a floral design. I made the flowers using bright magenta paint and a small plastic bag by blowing the bag up and stamping it on cardstock paper. I also added some green leaves and a pink lace border.

This one ended up being my favorite. I really loved how the flowers turned out and I think the lace border makes it even cuter.

3. Picture Reel Bookmark

A picture reel bookmark with four images.

For the third bookmark, I tried something completely different with a little picture reel design. I added four small pictures, including a kiss, a pink flower, pink balloons, and a red bow.

The kiss was made out of a stamp and everything that's colored in I used Crayola markers besides the white squares on the sides. I used white acrylic paint for that.

I really liked all the little details on this one and thought it turned out to be such a fun design.

4. Bookmark With a Mini Painting

A bookmark with a mini painting on it.

For the fourth bookmark, I made a little mini painting to add to the front. The painting has a purple background with green leaves, pink roses, a moon, and clouds using acrylic paint.

I also added a gingham pattern to the bookmark using a Crayola marker and some torn pieces of paper on the corners to give it a little more detail. I really liked how the little painting turned out and thought it made the bookmark look really cute.

5. Window Design Bookmark

A window bookmark with butterflies and hearts.

For the last bookmark, I tried a window style design with watercolor butterflies and hearts. I used clear packaging tape to create the see through middle and added a pink cardstock border around it.

This one was probably my least favorite of the five, but I still really liked how the border and see through design turned out.

Which Bookmark Was My Favorite?

Five DIY paper bookmarks in different designs.

After trying all five designs, the floral bookmark was definitely my favorite. I really loved how the flowers came out and the lace border made it even cuter.

The corset bookmark was also really fun to make and I loved the ribbon and beads. I also liked the style of the picture reel bookmark and thought the little painted picture on the fourth one was really cute.
