DIY Wooden Bead Christmas Ornaments

December 7, 2020

Hello! Here in this post, you get to learn how to make wood bead ornaments in two different ways. I'll be showing you how to make a tassel ornament with wooden beads and a bell on it. You also learn how to make a round bead ornament with paper on the back and the ornament can ay anything that you want.

You can watch the video below to learn how to make them or you can read on.

Round Wood Bead Ornament

You're going to need:

Floral wire
Wood Beads
Cardstock Paper
Marker
Pencil
Ribbon
Scissors

1. Get a piece of floral wire that's any length but you want it to be a little longer so you can tie it later and some beads. The length of my floral wire is twelve inches

2. Take the floral wire and round it.

3. Put as many beads as you want on the wire and make sure you leave enough room so you can tie it. I put eighteen beads on mine.

4. When you're done putting the beads on the wire you can tie the wire and don't worry you're going to cover it up later and make sure you keep the wire round.

5. Place the wooden beads on a piece of cardstock paper and trace and cut it out to create a circle.

6. After you're done cutting out the circle, you want to place the beads on the circle and write a word or a couple words in the middle with a pencil. I wrote the word joy in capital letters.

7. Take the beads off and go over the word with a marker.

8. When it's dry you can erase any pencil markings

9. Take hot glue and put a thin line of glue on one side of the edge of the paper and stick the beads on it. Make sure you glue the metal piece that's showing at the top of the paper.

10. Lift up the other half of the beads and glue the rest of the beads down to the paper

11. Tie a piece of string in a loop on the metal piece and if you want you can glue the knot of the string on the metal so the string stays in place

12. Tie a bow with any color of ribbon and glue it on the metal piece to cover it. You can also glue on a bell in the middle of the bow and then you're all done.

Tassel Wooden Bead Ornament

You're going to need:

Twine
Wood beads
Scissors
Bell
Ribbon

1. Get a piece of twine that's longer than what you want your ornament to be and you want to tie a loop at the top.

2. Put as many beads as you want onto the twine. I put five beads on mine.

3. For the tassel, you want to take a piece of cardboard that's around the size that you want your tassel to be and you want to wrap the twine around it about twenty times.

4. After you're done wrapping the twine, you want to take a piece of twine and run it through the loop and tie it at the top.

5. Cut the twine you were wrapping with at the bottom and you also want to cut the twine in half at the bottom.

6. Take a piece of twine and loop it over the tassel and wrap the twine around about twelve times.

7. When you're done wrapping the twine, you want to cut the twine you were wrapping with.

8. Then you want to take that piece of twine and run it through the loop that you made earlier.

9. Take the twine that's from the loop and pull it so it creates a knot.

10. Trim off the extra twine from the knot and trim the bottom of the tassel.

11. When you're done making the tassel, you can put a bell on the twine that's attached to the beads.

12. Tie the tassel onto the twine and if the tassel is too long you can trim the tassel to be shorter. You can also cut off the extra twine but make sure you don't cut the twine thats from the knots too short because it can come undone. My tassel ended up being about 3 1/2 inches long

13. Tie a bow with any color of ribbon above the beads or underneath the beads and then you're all done.

That's how you make both of these wooden bead ornaments!

Which one is your favorite? I think mine is the round one. It looks cute.
